Prices & taxation
On this page you’ll find firewood prices both per bag and per cubic metre, plus information on VAT and invoicing.
How much does a bag / 1 cubic metre of firewood cost?
A bag of birch costs 6,00 € and a bag of alder 5,50 €. One cubic metre is roughly 25 bags, so a cubic metre costs 150,00 € for birch and 137,50 € for alder. All prices include VAT and free delivery across mainland Estonia. With a monthly subscription we bring dry firewood at the agreed time on a regular basis, so you never run out.
Does the price include VAT and can a company be invoiced?
Yes, the firewood price includes VAT. An invoice can be issued to a company.
Delivery & lead time
We deliver firewood always free of charge across Estonia (except the islands, for a surcharge). Delivery is usually on the nearest weekend, and up to 1-2 weeks in peak season; we’ll certainly find a suitable time.

Delivery times are at the weekend. On weekdays by arrangement with the customer.
Which area do you deliver to (Tallinn, Harju County, Rapla County, etc.)?
We deliver across Estonia. (A surcharge applies for the islands; we’ll get in touch with you)
What is the usual lead time in peak season?
1-2 weeks. With a monthly subscription we always deliver on the agreed date.
Do you also deliver to Saaremaa, Hiiumaa and Kihnu?
Yes, we deliver firewood to the islands too. The delivery surcharge is by arrangement.
Ordering & payment
Ordering takes a few simple steps: choose the product and quantity, provide your address and confirm the time. You can pay in cash or by bank transfer against an invoice.

No, there is no minimum order quantity.
What payment methods are there (cash, bank transfer, card)?
You can pay either in cash or by bank transfer against an invoice.

Monthly subscription
A regular monthly subscription brings dry firewood to your door at the agreed time, without you having to remember it or buy ahead.
How often does a monthly subscription deliver?
Dry firewood is delivered exactly as often as you like - every week, twice a month or once a month.
Can I cancel my monthly subscription?
Yes, the monthly subscription can be changed or cancelled at any time on the „Change order“ page with no conditions.
What if I need more or less firewood than in the original order?
Fill in the „Change order“ form according to your new needs and the next delivery will already come in the new quantity.
Product range & suitability
We offer dry firewood (under 18% moisture) in 40 L bags - birch or alder to suit your heating appliance. On request we’ll stack it and carry it exactly where you need it.
Which to choose: birch or alder - what’s the difference?
Birch suits larger stoves and boiler systems, while alder suits a smaller stove, under the cooktop and in the fireplace. Birch has a higher calorific value and burns hotter, while alder lights more easily and soots less.
Is the firewood really dry (moisture < 20 %)?
Yes, our firewood is kiln-dried and the moisture is under 18%
Do you also stack it or carry it up the stairs/onto the terrace?
We stack the firewood exactly where you need it at no extra charge, whether that’s a shed behind the house, the cellar or the fifth floor.
Do you sell loose wood or only in bags/nets?
Only in bags/nets. We sell birch and alder as 30cm logs in 40 L bags
Measurements, units & calculations
We give a simple rule for how many 40 L bags you need. You’ll also find typical weights and pallet capacity.
How many 40 L net bags are in 1 cubic metre?
There are 25 net bags in 1 cubic metre, each with a capacity of 40l. The quantity may vary depending on how well the bags are packed.
How much does a 40 L bag of dry birch weigh / how many bags fit on one pallet?
A bag weighs 12-15kg; on a pallet there are 66 bags (EU pallet / 120×80) layers×bags (11×6)
How to calculate how many bags I need (apartment/house/for the season)?
Actual firewood consumption depends on the heating appliance, the size of the home, insulation and the season, but under average conditions reckon as follows:
- Birch: ~0,25 bags m² / month
- Alder: ~0,28 bags m² / month
Examples of monthly quantity (40 L bag):
- 50 m² apartment: birch ~12-13 bags/month (0,25×50), alder ~14 bags/month.
- 100 m² house: birch ~25 bags/month, alder ~28 bags/month.
In winter consumption may be higher, in summer lower. With a Küttepuude Kuller monthly subscription you don’t have to buy a whole year’s supply in advance - you can order from just 1 bag and adjust it to your actual consumption. Delivery is always free.
Heating, moisture & storage
Proper storage keeps the wood dry and gives a cleaner burn. Follow the tips below to avoid moisture, creosote and excess smoke.
How to store firewood so it stays dry?
Lift it off the ground: onto a pallet or timbers (at least 10-15 cm off the ground) so that air moves underneath and moisture doesn’t rise into the wood.
Cover the top only: a roof, boarding or the top edge of a tarp against rain and snow; leave the sides open so the wind can dry it. Don’t wrap it in plastic-it collects condensation.
Choose the spot: in the sun and wind, but sheltered from direct rain. Avoid low-lying areas and direct contact with soil/grass.
Away from the floor and wall: especially in a garage/shed-moisture moves in from surfaces.
A sloped cover for rainy periods: that way water runs off and doesn’t drip onto the stack.
“Bringing it in” indoors: bring 1-2 days’ worth next to the fireplace so the logs warm up and burn cleaner.
Moisture target: wood < 20%. If possible, measure with a moisture meter on a freshly cut surface of a log.
Apartment solution: on a balcony keep the stack under cover, ventilated from the sides, raised off the floor; follow the building’s house rules/fire-safety requirements.
Why does wet wood smoke and create creosote?
Wet wood smokes because damp wood spends a large part of its heat evaporating water. This cools the flame and the flue gases. Combustion is incomplete (more smoke/solid particles) and in the cooled gases wood resins/creosote condense onto the chimney walls.
Do logs brought in from the cold need to be dried indoors before burning?
No, if the wood is already dry/shed-dry - the cold doesn’t make it wet. Indoors, cold wood may only get a thin film of condensation; for better lighting, bring the next batch of wood indoors for a couple of hours to warm up.
